Q1. What is Health Insurance? Ans. Health Insurance is a social security system that guarantees the provision of a benefit package of health care services paid from funds created by pooling contributions of participants. Q2. What is the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)? Ans. National Health Insurance Scheme is a body corporate established under Act 35 of 1999 by Federal Government of Nigeria to ensure access to healthcare by all Nigerians at an affordable cost. Q3. How many members of a family are covered by my contribution? Ans. Contributor, spouse and four biological children under 18 years of age. Q4. Any special arrangement for contributors having more than one wife and four children? Ans. Any member of the family outside the allowable six can be registered as extra dependant. Q5. Can my child above 18 years benefit from my contribution? Ans. No. However students in tertiary institutions can be covered under the tertiary institution and voluntary participants Social Health Insurance Programme. Person above 18 years of age and are not in tertiary institution can be covered as extra dependants. Q6. If I am on Single/Individual Health Plan, can my relatives benefit from my contributions? Ans. No Q7. Is there a limit to the medical bills that Sterling Health will pay? Ans. No limit, as long as the care is within the provision of the benefit package. Q8. Can I select a provider outside Sterling Health list of providers? Ans. A beneficiary can only be allowed to patronize our accredited provider to ensure high standard health care delivery with the system. Q9. How do I change my provider in case of transfer to another town? Ans. Contact us early enough. A list of providers in your new location will be given to you to choose from. Q10. If I am not satisfied with the services of the provider who do I complain to? Ans. You can lodge complaints with us. If you are still not satisfied you can change your provider. Q11. How does a beneficiary who falls ill outside his/her location get treated? Ans. Such beneficiary can access care from our accredited provider in the location for a time emergency condition. |
